July 2026 Series: Attraction (Intro)

July 2, 2026

Welcome to my July 2026 series focusing on the topic of attraction! Due to the sheer amount of work that went, and at the time of this post, is still going into this -- originally only going to be two entries, but later expanded into four -- I missed my goal of uploading during Pride Month. Being unable to complete all the editing required to publish it before the month of June ended, but not wanting to lose the momentum I'd gained from starting the work, I instead decided to spread the series out over my birthday month.

You may remember that in February 2025, I did a Black History Month series, where I uploaded a chapter every Friday (each being a spotlight of Black artists and media that I wanted to showcase). It was challenging having an upload schedule/deadline for the first time, and sometimes difficult to get the pieces published on time. After that, I told myself I probably would never do such a thing again, as I generally prefer to upload on my own schedule or whenever I feel like it. But here I am, subjecting myself to this again in order to finally get this series -- which has literally been years in the making -- published before I have the chance to shelve it again.

Originally, this was going to be one long post, but it became too long and had to be split into two... then three... then ultimately four chapters. And the last one is still extremely long; I'm so sorry. Each will be on a slightly different subject, but they are all related to each other, and each piece falls under the category of attraction. As a biromantic asexual, I'll be sharing my thoughts on attraction, the different types of attraction and what split attraction means, the different ones that I personally experience, and finally, there will be a lengthy piece about biphobia and bi erasure that is tied into the topic as well. In that last piece, I will also go over the difference between bi and pan, as it's something I've seen so many people have questions about.

Ultimately, I hope that this series will inspire people, both ace and allo, to explore their own attraction more, learn more about the different types of attraction that can exist separately, and possibly walk away feeling like they better understand the perspectives of lesser-known or often-excluded members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I'm aiming for every Tuesday in July to have these uploaded, but please be patient, as life often gets in the way. If I'm unable to stick to the schedule, then I'll have them uploaded whenever I can, even if it extends into August.

Ideally, here's what you can expect in the upcoming weeks:

July 7: All about the split attraction model, what it means, and who can use it
July 14: The four types of attraction I personally experience as an asexual
July 21: Exploring the difference between sensual and sexual attraction
July 28: Biphobia, erasure and stereotypes + the difference between bi and pan attraction
